If I connect my Ledger to MetaMask, do I need to move my tokens to cold storage?

If Ledger doesn’t support the token or coin, you can import custom token and send it to MetaMask. Obviously this is an added layer of security rather than just leaving your tokens on the exchange.

To take it a step further, I connect my Ledger to MetaMask. Here’s my question; if I have my Ledger connected to MM, are my tokens already secured in cold storage?

From what I’m seeing, I still should send them from my MM, to my Ledger. But why? If my ledger is already connected, aren’t they already secured??

I’m sure this is a dumb question but I just can’t get my head around it.

Why would I pay the fee to withdraw my tokens from the exchange and then pay **another** fee (which is crazy high gas on ETH Mainnet) to remove them from MM to my Ledger?

  1. The MM is just the frontend to your Ledger address.

You don’t have to send it to your MM address then ledger, just send directly to your ledger address.
