Gas in polygon is higher than the one in ethereum?

I compared the gas price in polygon and ethereum with the following site.

[

I heard that the gas is cheaper in polygon, but currently, it is more expensive. (30 Gwei in ethereum and 250 Gwei in polygon). What happens? Do I misunderstand something?

  1. The gas cost on Ethereum is measured in ETH ($1600), the gas cost on Polygon is measured in MATIC ($1.14).

You can look at actual transaction costs on block explorers like [https://polygonscan.com/](https://polygonscan.com/) and [https://etherscan.io/](https://etherscan.io/) and you’ll see that a transaction on Polygon costs about $0.01, while a simple transaction on Ethereum costs $0.74 right now.

  2. The term “Gwei” is derived from the combination of two words: “Giga” and “Wei.” Giga is a prefix that means “billion” in the International System of Units (SI), while Wei is the smallest unit of Ethereum, equivalent to 10^-18 Ether.

Therefore, one Gwei is equal to 0.000000001 Ether (1 ETH = 1,000,000,000 Gwei).

However, polygone runs on Matic, where 1 gwei is 1 billionth of a matic (which is 0.fuckall)
