curve daily vs weekly apr

Noob question – on Curve why does it show Daily and Weekly vAPY ?

For example currently I see for the hbtc pool:

* Daily **0.80%**
* Weekly **0.12%**

So what does this mean? It pays 0.80 % daily plus 0.12% weekly?

What is the annual rate if this is daily? I’m confused!
Can someone please explain the basics of what these rates mean.

  1. The V in VAPY stands for variable. The daily vapy is measured based on the daily volume, weekly is measured based on the weekly volume. Nobody knows what the volume will be tomorrow or next week, so it’s impossible to predict the exact future APYs, but you can use the daily / weekly as an approximate guide.
