Whatever the truth will be, public perception rules the moment.

Recession looming, recession already here, market continues down, housing market cools rapidly, inflation scary big, crypto is finally over – this is what’s in the headlines. That’s what people believe. Scaremongering sensationalism rules the masses. When all your sources of info are using their words to generate income and followers, desperately grasping at readers from a sea of sources, bigger headlines and brighter colors usually win. Remember what the successful have said though:

_“Buy when everyone else is selling and hold until everyone else is buying. That’s not just a catchy slogan. It’s the very essence of successful investing.”_
– J. Paul Getty

_“The wisest rule in investment is: when others are selling, buy. When others are buying, sell. Usually, of course, we do the opposite. When everyone else is buying, we assume they know something we don’t, so we buy. Then people start selling, panic sets in, and we sell too.”_
– Jonathan Sacks

_“In the end, what counts in investing is what you pay for a business-through the purchase of a small piece of it in the stock market_ – and what that business earns in the succeeding decade or two.”
_“Be Fearful When Others Are Greedy and Greedy When Others Are Fearful.”_
– Warren Buffett

_“The successful man will profit from his mistakes and try again in a different way.”_
– Dale Carnegie

I haven’t bought anything since last fall. It was either a good move or a bad move and only time will tell. I have a little money set aside and I’ll probably start DCAing this fall. I’m ready to change my strategy if things change though.

I’ll leave you with encouragement I’ve left here before. One of my favorite quotes I’ve adopted in the last three years. Massive ‘failure’ in my life led to a realignment of priorities and how I viewed opportunities. That’s a story for another time though.

_”All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.”_
– T. E. Lawrence

  1. Agreed. I stopped buying until this month. Now I’m back in. I suspect it goes lower. So I’ll DCA.

Housing – I’m gonna jump in this spring I think. Take the hit on the rate and refi down the road. Screw it. I think it makes a small correction and that’s it. No crash. But then prices will just start going up again. I’ll use the next bull run profit to refi.

  2. It’s not the headlines because that’s what people believe – it’s what people believe because it’s the headlines.

  3. “With all the FUD revolving around Solana these days, it definitely makes me want to buy more. I’ll happily take your discounted coins.”
