How do you guys know SO MUCH about crypto?

Okay so I’m just getting into crypto, and this sub has been AMAZING help! None of my girlfriends know anything about it, so I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about it. I’ve earned a little bit of money from modeling and other related gigs, so I’ve built up a very small but steadily growing portfolio. I still feel like I’m far away from any sort of large sum, but slowly DCA’ing into something meaningful. It’s about $20 a month (things are slow right now), but when I have the cash I make bigger deposits. Maybe in a few years I’ll be where a lot of you guys are 🙂

I’ve learned so much just from reading posts here, thanks to you guys and your advice. Staking, whale tracking, NFTs, Ethereum 2.0, smart contracts, dApps, remix, Solidity, all that stuff. I want to learn more because every day something new comes up and again I feel like I know NOTHING. I know a lot of people come on this sub and like to joke and troll, but just keep in mind there are people here who truly want to learn!! So please keep an open mind of that and keep on doing what you do.

Just wanted to say thanks 🙂

  1. Honestly people here collectively do know a lot, and it’s reliable information when it comes to random facts like that Vitalik Buterin was once almost an intern for Ripple (Ripple was unable to get a visa for him so it fell through), or that Hoskinson is alleged to have claimed to have jumped out of a Black Hawk in Afghanistan, and even sometimes with regard to some technical facts too.

It’s just that this knowledge doesn’t translate into any ability to predict price.

  2. Lmao don’t be fooled. Nobody here knows anything. Treat everyone in this sub like they’re the town fool shouting at the pigeons in the square about how the end is nigh.

  3. Ik I’ve learned a bit here. So far most of my learning had been learning from my mistakes. Groups like this Def help me foresee a future where I might make less of them

  4. Tbh, it just ads up over time. I watch a video here, a twitter thread there, an article tomorrow. After a while you do realize how little you actually know tho. Just consistency and curiosity about that whole crypto thing.

  5. We are pretty awesome, right?

Just keep reading. I started as a miner in 2017 and honestly just read read read all I can and soak up the info. You’ll get there soon enough.

  6. Telegram is a great place to learn. Follow the projects you’re in and those you’re interested in. Before you know it you’ll start networking with fellow crypto degenerates and be led down a path of more and more projects. Just watch out for scammers PMing you. Genuine admins NEVER message you first.

  7. Because it has dominated my almost every thought, day and night, for the last 5 years.

Came for the money, stayed for the tech. Crypto and decentralization is a mind-set, a way of life.

  8. Coindesk.com
    Decrypt.com

No TA no market or asset related influencers at all.

Only thing on YouTube was hardware wallet reviews and demos.

This sub has some great info and some horrible info to sift thru.

  9. I don’t know anything, so I just throw money at whatever looks good at the time and watch my investment slowly but surely decrease

Half-kidding, but on a more serious note I do try to understand as much as I can about the technology underlying the different coins. I am a developer after all 😁

But I really know next to nothing about the financial/trading/investing side of it. I try to hodl coins I personally believe in more than panic buying due to hype. And I never sell when the price goes down, ever. The price will always go back up… Eventually.

Even if it’s 8 years from now.

  10. The one advice I would give is to do your research. Just because some YouTuber has a million subscribers or a bunch of people are shilling some coin, don’t mean it’s a good project. Good projects usually don’t have hype. They build up naturally. Look into what the project does and how does that benefit the users. Is it decentralized and is it by a good team. Who owns the majority of the tokens, all these should be looked at carefully, then chances are the project is a good long term hold.

  11. Time and being interested is how. I first started smoking Bitcoin back in ‘nam and I’ve been addicted ever since, I used to inject Ada quite a bit too but now it just doesn’t hit me like it used to. For a while I was just hitting anything that looked tastey but now I’m getting back to basics a bit more, Btc and Eth are still my boys after all this time. Trying to dip your finger in too many pies can be stressful, you can only really follow so many projects with the attention required.
