Crypto is like virtual reality, young tech with lots of potential

Us Redditors comfortable in this and many other communities may not feel this way initially, I think the similarities are worth noting. New tech, new companies, new users. Everyone is still unsure where this is all going. On virtual reality, what is the future? Everyone owning such apparatus? Safe exposure therapy? Simulations for the military? We know what is possible as a gross estimate, but we don’t know the exact applications and adoption rate. The same can be said about crypto. We are still early in the game and sometimes it feels the only way is up.

In a few years time, the frequently asked question will be “where were you when this tech got brought up?” Now is your chance, take it.

  1. I’m skeptical of virtual reality. People try it once or twice then don’t use it again. Among other things, they don’t like wearing those goggles on their head. It might be one of those money pits that everyone always thinks is the next step for technology but doesn’t actually pan out.

  2. It’s crazy to think how far this space might develop in the next 5-10 years. Blockchain technology is so cool and we don’t even know what it’s limits are yet

  3. I remember when VR was going to be the “next big thing”. It was the 90s and stuff like lawnmower man was envisioning some kind of dystopian VR universe. But still it hasn’t delivered. But man was that a cool movie.

  4. Ironically VR is a pretty good comparison to E-fiat; formerly known as cryptocurrency. E-fiat has been around about the same as VR and is “futuristic” but has largely not made any real advances in user friendliness or consumer protections. Much like with VR there’s still the same kinda weird beta looking garbage in the VR world too.

But you still win people over with the allure of the future technology but not with the actual technology. So you’re right. VR is a perfect comparison to E-fiat.

  5. Warren Buffett and banks have started investing. Although it’s still early it looks like the mass adoption phase is close

  6. The only thing I regret is not seeing a post like this 5 years ago.
Crypto has been here for 13 years and we are still early and it keeps getting bigger everywhere.
I can’t wait to see how this all turns out in 10 years.
