Dana V Cummins grew up in Gary, IN but calls Indianapolis her home. She started playing Bass in Seventh Grade
Orchestra, later adding High School Jazz band. She is classically trained with some jazz influence and the
aggression of hard rock player; underneath all that business there's a deep love of disco and funk.
Becoming a teacher at the Broad Ripple Guitar Shop before completing high school, she says "I never in my life learned more about my instrument than when I was responsible to others to know more about theirs."
She spent her late teens in garage bands who would allow a girl in their band and her early 20's playing with Rob
Swaynie in his Indigo band. She spent 1991 on the road with a six piece band called Milwaukee Iron, and was
fortunate enough to spend a month in Mainland China playing large venues and the Shanghai Indoor Stadium
in the fall of that year. Upon returning home she spent a few years
playing five and six nights a week on the south and southeast
sides of Indianapolis with "The Reflections" and "Face First" which recorded a self titled album that was never released. She took several years away from playing to solely concentrate on family.
Picking up the bass again in the
summer of 2006, Dana had never lost her love for music and a good time. She's been an on-call player for a few bands around town in the past few years and recently played with Treated and Released and Common Ground until joining LemonWheel in July 2008.
